River Sanica

River Sanica

The Sanica is a nice little river mouthing into the Sana river

It rises near the same named place Sanica and is fed by three different karst springs and ends after 22 km in the river Sana. The stock of fish is excellent, the grayling is the main species in Sanica. The flyfishing part is about 5 km long and meanders through a beautiful landscape fringed with heavily vegetated riverside areas. Those who like fishing with dry flies are at the right place here! There are hardly any times where you do not get the fish to rise, but the evening rise here is especially breathtaking when you see how the river in the last evening almost begins to boil: One ring is not formed next to the other and from time to time you don't know what fish you should cast to first.
Water characteristics:
A typical Chalk River which is very food rich in various insects by its strong vegetation in the water. With a width of 15 to 20m, the water is very clear and therefore ideally suited for the dry fly and nymph. The clear water is ideal to spot the many graylings and trouts. Pools with flat expiring riffles with fine gravel make wading in the river very easy, so you can easily reach the best spots.
Main species:
Brown and rainbow trout, grayling
