River Una, Martin Brod

The Una at Martin Brod is a wonderful flyfishing destination in the Una National Park

This top spot is always worth a visit. We arrange the transfer of our accommodation, the journey takes just about one hour and also offers the short detour to visit the spectacular waterfall Strbacki Buk. In Martin Brod at the confluence of Una and Unac a great fishing in beautiful countryside and most crystal clear water is awaiting you. The trout (both brown and rainbow trout) grow here partially to enormous sizes, catches of fish with more than 80cm are possible, though not the rule.
Water characteristics:
The Una at Martin Brod is pefect for wading, usually fringed with dense vegetation. In this part the Una contains immense masses of aquatic insects, some stones are populated with hundreds of caddis larvae. The average water depth should be about 70 cm here. In deep pools you occasionally can see monstrous fish ... Fishing in Martin Brod is often an alternative when the water level caused turbidity further downstream.

Brown and rainbow trout, grayling
Equipment Tips fly fishing trout / grayling:
Flyrod class # 5 or # 6, reel and line accordingly. WF-F-lines for nymphs and dry fly fishing, Sinktiplines or sinking polyleader for streamerfishing. When streamerfishing, tippets should be not less than 0.20 mm, otherwise as thin as possible (not below 0.12 mm). Here only use barbless hooks are allowed, please consider this in your fly selection. All stages of caddis flies , mayflies and stoneflies (or their nymphs) promise good success.
